Hello there, it’s Dave here. I bet it’s hard job coming up with new and different themes for video slot games, and I certainly wouldn’t have come up with a Spanish Conquistador themed slot if I had the job! But with Gonzo’s Quest that;s exactly what you do get. Before we get into the technicalities of the game I must just say that as well as a unique theme, this game has an amazing animated introduction sequence. I mean really high production values! Don’t skip it when it comes up, watch it all the way through – you’ll thank me. The only question I have is why did they name their character after one of the Muppets?
So this game is a variant on the traditional 5 reel slots, but instead of spinning reels you get falling stone temple blocks. This allows multipliers to build up in a similar way to Bejeweled or other similar games where clearing lines allows new ones to drop down within the same turn.
With coin values available to select from €0.01 to €0.50 this isn’t a game for the high roller, although you can wager up to 100 coins per turn if you wish. No progressive pots here either to tempt the bigger players, but don’t let that put you off because there is an in-game fixed jackpot of a very respectable 62500 coins up for grabs.

About the Gonzo’s Quest Slot Machine
After the excellent Gonzo’s Quest intro animation you’ll be presented with the game screen. As already mentioned this games uses the so called “avalanche” reel method, in this instance by representing symbols as ancient temple blocks. There are lots of symbols in use and they’ve all been designed really well to fit the theme, no jarring irrelevant objects here!
All the blocks fall from the top of the screen to end up stacked on top of each other – it’s a really nice effect and the animation has been very well done. If you get any paying combinations, those blocks will explode (very nicely, I might add) and the wall will then rearrange itself by falling into the gaps, with new replacement blocks dropping down from above to complete the picture. Each time this happens you could activate another winning combo and repeat the process several times just for one “spin”.
Gonzo’s Quest uses wildcards, and these are a no-nonsense question mark symbol – refreshingly relevant for a change! The question marks can appear anywhere and they can stand for any of the play symbols to help you complete winning lines.
There is also a “Free Fall” symbol (well you can’t have free “spins”, can you?) that looks like an Aztec sun god. See 3 or more of these and you’ll enter the free fall round that offers multiply bonuses of up to 15x winnings.
Payout Table and Win Potential
Press the Info button on the game screen and you can see the full pay table for Gonzo’s Quest. Every time you get a combo the active multiplier will increase. In the standard play you can earn up to 5x, but in the bonus free fall round it can go up to 15x. The max payout is 62,500 coins PLUS multipliers in the free fall round… Pure gold!
Gonzo’s Quest Bonus Features
So as we’ve said, you trigger a free fall by getting the three sun god symbols in ordinary play. A single winning avalanche combo will earn a 3x multiplier award. If that then triggers another win, the multiple goes up to 6, then to 9 and tops out at 15x standard winnings.
Game Settings and How To Play Gonzo’s Quest
Despite the slick graphics, Gonzo’s Quest is a traditional game where you choose the amount you want to wager for each turn. To start the blocks tumbling you then just need to hit the play, autoplay or maximum bet buttons. Any payouts are calculated automatically and added to your balance.
There is full control of the game’s settings including sound effects on or off, and volume control. You can change graphic quality if it’s slowing your machine and turn the ambient sounds on or off. If you’re playing with real money you can also see a complete history of your game with amounts wagered and winnings all listed.
Overall, this game is very pleasing to the eye, doesn’t cost much to play and can provide some very healthy payouts. As an extra bonus you get a really good animated intro sequence as well. Viva conquistadors!
